David Cooney
David is the founder and Managing Director of Cooney Financial Services Limited. He established the business in 1986 and since then the company has grown to be recognized as one of the best in the industry working with businesses and families in the Waikato and Rotorua regions . David is a member of IFA (Institute of Financial Advisers) and the PAA (Professional Advisers Association Inc.) He keeps himself up to date with industry changes by attending their conferences, continuing education courses and is also part of a discussion group with other professional advisers.
An avid sports fan, David particularly enjoys rugby and motor sports. He is also actively involved in the community through Rotary and was the driving force behind the Cambridge Rotary Community Directory for the past 18 years. He received a Paul Harris Fellowship award for services to Rotary and the community in 2003 and the Sapphire Pin in 2009, and currently Chairs the Rotary Club of Cambridge Community Trust.
Cooney Insurance is situated in Cambridge, in offices shared with his wife, Jocelyn, who is the Principal of a successful legal practice. David and Jocelyn have been married for 32 years, with their daughter Emma practicing law in Wellington and son Rob, accounting in Melbourne.
David really enjoys getting to know his clients and understanding their business. He takes great pleasure in advising clients how they should protect themselves, ensuring that they have a secure future.
