Home Equity Release
Having financial independence in retirement is something many of us
dream about.
A Home Equity Release loan enables you to use some of the money tied up in the equity of your home without having to sell it. You do that by taking out a loan against the value of your house. The total loan amount, including accumulated interest, is only repayable when you move permanently from your home, usually when you pass away or move into long term care.
You can continue to own and live in your home for as long as you wish without making any regular repayments. The amount you can borrow depends on your age (over 60) and the value of your home.
We recommend Sentinel as they are New Zealand’s leading specialist home equity release company. It is owned and operated by people with a proven and highly successful track record in the financial services and mortgage market. Sentinel is also a founding member of the Safe Home Equity Release Plans Association (SHERPA).
